NAS ALBUM TITLE REACHES THE POLITICAL ARENA

The debate over Nas’s forthcoming album and its controversial album title have now hit the political and state level. A politician in New York is urging the state Comptroller to withdraw $84 Million in state pension investments towards Universal Music. Hakeem Jefferies, a former assistant general counsel at CBS and lawyer at Viacom before being elected (D-Fort Greene/Brooklyn) as assemblyman is leading the charge against Nas. “[They are] profiting from a racial slur that has been used to
dehumanize people of color for centuries,” said Assemblyman Jeffries A recent report revealed that the New York State Pension Fund has $2.8 billion invested in 16 major entertainment companies.
